Luke Shaw in race to be fit for Euro 2024 as Gareth Southgate makes injury revelation on Man Utd star

Gareth Southgate, the manager of England, has acknowledged that Luke Shaw of Manchester United may not be prepared for Euro 2024. Shaw, who found the net in the Euros final three years ago, is currently dealing with a muscle injury. United have announced that Shaw will be sidelined for an extended period of time following his injury against Luton Town last month. Erik ten Hag indicated that Shaw is unlikely to play again until May, raising questions about his availability for the Euros. When questioned about Shaw’s prospects for the summer, Southgate acknowledged that there is uncertainty due to the timeline suggesting he may only return at the end of the season. Southgate emphasized that it is uncertain what form Shaw will be in when he returns. Southgate mentioned the challenges of competing in a major event like the Euros and the physical demands it requires. He mentioned that participating in a seven-game tournament has been a valuable learning experience, as they have played all seven matches in two out of three tournaments and have noticed the significant physical demands it entails. Additionally, Gareth Southgate has clarified the reason why Kobbie Mainoo is not included in the England squad. Southgate’s decision for England presents Manchester United with a difficult transfer situation. We may have all of our currently injured players back in action soon, but we will need to assess their fitness levels and readiness to compete in a tournament over the next few months. England would suffer a significant blow if Shaw is unavailable as there are limited options for left-backs in their squad.
