EFL issue Premier League demand after clubs reject government offer

The EFL is calling for the introduction of a football regulator following Premier League clubs’ refusal to increase payments to lower-tier teams. The EFL expressed frustration over the consistent lack of agreement from Premier League clubs in the recent no-deal situation. Two years prior, the government instructed Premier League teams to increase funding to support football across all levels. Following the recent ruling on Monday, the EFL expressed dissatisfaction and urged the government to appoint an independent regulatory body. According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, West Ham, Aston Villa, Wolves, Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, and AFC Bournemouth were the teams that raised objections. Additionally, Gareth Southgate clarified the reason for Kobbie Mainoo’s absence from the England squad. What does Kevin De Bruyne’s injury mean for Manchester City’s match against Arsenal? When will he return and what clues are there about the starting lineup? The EFL released a strong statement in response, expressing disappointment at the lack of a new funding offer from Premier League Clubs that would benefit all EFL Clubs. Despite ongoing efforts over the past two years, the EFL and its Clubs are still hoping for a new funding arrangement from the Premier League. It is crucial to start the State of the Game Review as soon as possible, as it will establish a solid foundation for a sustainable football system. Recent developments have brought attention to the financial challenges experienced by clubs in different leagues. Financial difficulties led to the closure of Bury FC and Macclesfield Town, while teams like Southend United, Scunthorpe United, Bolton Wanderers, and Reading FC have faced serious financial challenges, coming close to entering administration.
