Kobbie Mainoo could soon be forced into a Manchester United position change

It has been exactly four months since Mason Mount last played for Manchester United, and he is now nearing his return. United has confirmed that the midfielder has resumed training ahead of Sunday’s eagerly awaited FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool at Old Trafford. Manager Erik ten Hag mentioned last week that Mason Mount could potentially make his return on March 23rd in a game against Brentford. Mount, who was signed from Chelsea last July for a deal worth up to £4.93 million, has only made 24 appearances for United so far. He was absent for five games from late-August to the end of September, and has missed a total of 290 matches due to his recent calf injury. The financial results of United emphasize the significant task ahead for Sir Jim Ratcliffe at Old Trafford, despite the club generating record revenues. Why United has discontinued conducting conference calls. United acquired the 21-year-old player last summer to replace Christian Eriksen, as they believed he offered fresher legs and greater mobility in the midfield. It is difficult to assess Mount’s time at the club after eight months with the Reds. While he is typically known as an attacking midfielder, Mount has expressed that he feels more at ease playing as a No.8 and controlling the game from a deeper position since joining United. Eriksen had a similar role in the previous season, and it was clear that Ten Hag wanted Mount to perform a similar task by playing in a three-man midfield with Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro. Kobbie Mainoo has solidified his position as Manchester United’s primary No.8 player, showcasing a mix of defensive skill and creative passing. With his 12th consecutive start in the Premier League in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Everton, the 18-year-old appears firmly entrenched in Ten Hag’s preferred starting lineup for the foreseeable future.
